Our Foundation Stage was graded OUTSTANDING in all areas in our OFSTED inspection December 2008. The Foundation Stage provides high quality Early Years provision for children from 3 – 5 years old. The unit has an excellent staff team who all work extremely hard to provide fun, stimulating and practical learning experiences both inside and outside.

We have a wonderful outdoor play area which provides a bike track, a brick area, an enormous sand pit, woodchip play areas, a climbing and balancing area, a role play area, an investigation area, a grassed auditorium, a stepping stone trail made by the children and various hard and soft surfaces. Staff designed the area assisted by local architects and we have many schools from the LEA and further afield visit us to view our high quality learning environment.
The children love their outside classroom and it is in use whatever the weather as we have sets of waterproof clothing for the children to use.

We also have a super indoor environment and we work between two classroom bases Foundation One and Two linked by a winding pathway. Staff and children work in all areas and both rooms provide attractive and carefully organised learning environments.  We have non slip flooring fitted right throughout the Foundation One classroom and we have furniture from the Early Excellence Centre in Huddersfield for both bases. We have had a large conservatory built on Foundation One which serves as a new cloakroom and leads directly onto our outdoor play area. We have a Hygiene Suite in Foundation One which provides changing and shower facilities for all our children.

Foundation Two base has been set up as a Construction/Block Play/Information Technology base and children really benefit from having the room to design, build and create in this space. Foundation Two classroom has an interactive Smart Board fitted and the children are very independent and capable in its use.
