Friends Of Bilton School
The FOBS is a registered charity run voluntarily by parents and some staff from the school to raise additional funds and provide community functions. The charity organise a number of fund raising events throughout the year which include:-
The Summer Fair – This is our biggest event of the year! It is held every June and includes a BBQ, beer tent, tea, coffee and cake stalls as well as a raffle, tombola and a wide variety of activities and games to keep all members of the family entertained.
Secret Santa and mother’s / father’s day shop – Charity members buy and wrap an assortment of gifts for the children to then buy. These events are a real hit with the children and make them feel very responsible.
End of term disco – Members provide refreshments in the form of drinks, sweets, ice cream and hot dogs for all children attending
Bags 2 school – Twice a year bags are sent home to fill with unwanted clothes.
Giving machine – This is a website you can easily click on to when doing your online shopping. A large variety of shops will donate a percentage of what you spend to the charity
We also organise a number of sponsored events throughout the year and provide refreshments on school sports day afternoons. All money raised from events go back into the school to benefit all pupils. The charity pays for a number of school trips and coaches, theatre productions who visit the school, updating play equipment and Christmas parties. As you can see it is a very worthwhile cause and members work hard to keep the charity running. We are always looking for new members, whether you have lots of free time or only a few hours here and there, everyone is welcome. Look out for details of our next meeting in the school newsletter or contact Caroline Woodward, Clare Kitching or Emma Haldenby for more information. Alternatively contact the school office.
