Involvement with Local Community Groups
The village of Bilton has a thriving community and our school is very much at the centre. Our children gain a clear sense of identity, and learn to contribute to their society, via our involvement in events and with local groups.
St Peter’s Church offers us fantastic support. Revd Maggie Jeavons is a regular visitor to our school. She often leads assemblies and involves herself in school activities. The church and its grounds are often used for class visits. The annual key stage two carol service at St Peter’s Church is one of the highlights of the school calendar.
The Bilton Royal British Legion organises the annual Bilton Remembrance Parade and Service. For the last ten years our children, staff and governors have taken an active part in this event. The British Legion has supported us by sponsoring sports strips and equipment. Several of our school governors are members of the British Legion Committee.
The Bilton Village Hall Committee has an excellent relationship with our school. We work together to promote village activities and events which benefit local children and their families. In addition we now use the village hall car park for our “Park and Stride to School” scheme. The village hall is included in our Critical Incident Policy and would be the evacuation centre if we ever had to leave the school site in an emergency.
Bilton Parish Council and Bilton Neighbourhood Watch liaise closely with us on a variety of local matters. Our excellent local police officer PC Darren Bainton has supported us with numerous issues including bike post coding, traffic management, stranger danger talks and Lifestyle.
The local community is very friendly and has high expectations for its residents. We like to think that our school makes a major contribution to the good quality services available to the people of Bilton.
